Timing: Fall Semester, starting August 1

Number of Hours – Flexible

Location: Chicago, IL

mHUB, Chicago’s physical product innovation center, is looking for an intern with event planning and execution skills to support our events coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Chicago’s startup industry filled with dynamic entrepreneurs, leading corporations, and seasoned investors. Born out of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s World Business Chicago office, mHUB is creating the conditions for product innovation to thrive.

The selected intern will be fully immersed in mHUB’s culture of innovation, planning and attending cutting-edge events and discussing the latest trends in product innovation, with mHUB’s industry leaders, serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, politicians, and trend-setters - all who are supporting mHUB's mission to drive physical product innovation and help the Midwest continue to be an industry-leading manufacturing community.

Just two stops on the Blue line to downtown Chicago, mHUB sits in the heart of West Town, neighbors with some of the fastest growing Chicago-born companies like Groupon, Lightbank, and Uptake. Chicago’s CTA Blue line stop makes mHUB an easy, stress-free commute for interns travelling from Evanston as well as those coming from the city. mHUB is an ideal workplace for energetic, entrepreneurial-minded students looking to immerse themselves in Chicago’s developing economy and startup culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Support mHUB’s event coordinator on all events
  • Assist with the creation of a long-term events plan that demonstrates continued evolution of key events
  • Track and report on event metrics including attendance, demographics, and potential for new member acquisition
  • Support promotion of mHUB events and workshops

The ideal candidate should be working towards a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a similar field. Ability to lift 25 pounds is a requirement, as is an enthusiastic interest in product design/development, startups, and/or entrepreneurship. Experience with social media, Microsoft Excel, and google sheets is a plus. Preferred ability to work some nights and weekends as events schedule dictates. To apply, please submit resume and cover letter to events@mhubchicago.com. To learn more, visit www.mhubchicago.com
