About the Role

mHUB is seeking a Graduate Fellow to support the Director of Community Impact and Engagement in developing programs and securing funding to reduce financial barriers to entrepreneurship for women and people of color. The Fellow will be a key component of the team powering major growth priorities for the organization in Equity-centered programming to support underrepresented entrepreneurs, real estate strategy, and community engagement working directly with the leadership team and across business units. The Fellow will also participate in external working groups and taskforces focused on driving tech equity across the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a key player in driving mHUB’s relocation real estate strategy targeting opportunity zones, including analysis, community engagement planning and execution, asset mapping, and operations planning. 
  • Work with leaders across the organization to refine impact metrics and drive mHUB’s focus in embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion across all verticals of the business.
  • Fundraising support for mHUB’s Catalyze Commitment: a 5-year, $8.6 million portfolio of programs focused on driving equitable access to entrepreneurship.
  • Partnering with the Director of Community Impact and Engagement to scale programs within the Catalyze portfolio focused on access to capital across the entrepreneurship journey including (but not limited to) cohort-based pre-accelerators, granted partnerships for collaborative programming with community-based organizations, and network building. 
  • Working with key stakeholders across the tech ecosystem to develop strategies to make the Chicago tech more inclusive and equitable for underrepresented founders.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current graduate program student focusing on areas of policy, economic development or business administration.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners and donors.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with high-level leaders to work towards outcomes, leading by consensus.
  • Experience in research and asset mapping.
  • Experience with program development and coordination.
  • Prior experience in a nonprofit environment is a plus.
  • Prior experience with entrepreneurs or business support organizations is a plus.

Salary and Duration

A stipend of $1,000 per month will be provided. Fellowships will last a minimum of 11 weeks between May 2022 to the end of August 2022, depending on the applicant’s academic calendar year, with an opportunity for extension beyond the summer.
